Girls' Dance - Thursday's Practice

Post a comment on how we can improve before Saturday's practice.
The back circle needs to go the opposite way.

  1. Everyone needs to know the steps- or else there's a collision (esp. in half circle). I think more graceful kicks would be better too. (While watching myself kicking, I looked like I was kicking a can or something.)

  2. I think we should all hold our tambourines the same way in the three circles. Some peoples are higher then others.

  3. One thing is that everyone needs to kick the same. Some people are kicking straight in front of them and some people are kicking to the side. Also, we are singing about making a joyful noise unto the Lord - It's all right to let your face show it :)

  4. To make the kicks look more elegant we could all point our toes instead of just throwing our feet out their while we are in the half circle.

  5. I think the 1/2 circle looked really nice, just the people on the end need to make an extra effort to keep it centered correctly and not go to the right side so much. I also think that the girls and I who add in with the back circle should practice standing on the sides where all the girls start from, because sitting on the side or the stage doesn't look good.

  6. When we cross we are bunching up. We need to move faster so we aren't standing and waiting to cross while the people in front of us do.

  7. The half circle looks visually uncentered every time we go to the right, maybe if we take smaller steps to the right and larger steps to the left it might compensate? Also, if we waited at the end of the half circle to move into the snakes until after we were all back to being centered, I think it would look better. Thanks, Paige

  8. I think we could all practice taking the same amount of stepping space when we spin or cross over - whether it should be bigger steps or smaller steps. Also, when we do the little rocks in the 1/2 circle some people cross their feet in front of them but I think it looks nice if we cross over to the side of us.

I do really like the dance so far. Bethany

  9. It looks nice when there is the same amount of space between each person. If everyone practices taking small steps and following right in the steps of the person beside them, it will help make it look uniform.
I like it! Practice makes perfect.

  10. In the half circle, after everyone spins and takes the step forward...we need to make sure we aren't jerking forward on that step (creating a wavering mess of a line) but rather a small step and movement, allowing the line to stay slightly curved. Also, When we are in the 3 circles, the back circle should be scooted closer up. -Emily

  12. Maybe we should change the second part of the half circle so that we go to left stage, instead of going back to right stage, it would help balance it.
